Camp Director
Dr. Sameer Al-Asheh
Sameer Al-Asheh joined the AUS Department of Chemical Engineering in 2014. He is the department head since 2019. He also served as the interim Dean for the college of engineering for the period Feb – Dec 2021. He joined Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in 1997 and served as its Director of Academic Development Center from 2009 to 2014, and its Dean of Engineering for the academic year 2017/2018. Dr. Al-Asheh has taught various courses in chemical engineering at the BS and MS levels. His research interest focuses on water and wastewater treatment and adsorption.
Camp Instructors
Muhammad Qasim
Muhammad Qasim’s current lab teaching areas are Unit Operations, Process Control, Petroleum Refining and MATLAB. His research areas focus on desalination, water treatment, process optimization and fluid phase equilibria. He has over eight years of experience in laboratory instruction.
Najla Salkho
Najla Mohammad received her Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the American University of Sharjah. She is currently a lab instructor in the Chemical Engineering Department with a teaching experience of six years in topics related to MATLAB, Aspen HYSYS, Petroleum Refining, Reactions, and Unit Operations. Her main research area is drug delivery systems in biomedical applications.
Camp Volunteers
Dr. Karnail Singh
Karnail Singh has worked in academia as well as corporate research and technology centers. After his PhD, he worked for five years as a research engineer at GE’s John F. Welch Technology Center in Bangalore, India. He then worked in the SABIC Technology Center Bangalore, followed by SABIC’s Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he worked as Scientist for two years. Prior to joining AUS, he was Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Shiv Nadar University (SNU), India, for about three years. His broad areas of research are Film Formation in Water-based Dispersions, Reaction Engineering and Catalysis, and Chemical Engineering in General.
