During the three days of the CHE boot camp, you will explore and learn about the exciting field of chemical engineering.
Day 1 – Learn About Chemical Engineering
On the first day, you will:
- Watch short videos related to chemical engineering industries and fields
- Perform site visit and become familiar with all the chemical engineering labs and equipment
- Observe the demonstrations of distillation, pump station, cooling tower, and reverse osmosis (RO) desalination unit
Day 2 – Synthesize Personal Care Products
On this day, you will learn about the raw materials and the processes involved in the production of personal care products. Using batch experiments and natural ingredients in the laboratory, you will synthesize products such as soap, shampoo, and perfume that you can take and use at home.
Day 3 – More Chemical Engineering Processes
On day 3, you will learn about chemical processes in addition to hands-on experiments. Chemical reactors, gas-solid fluidization and absorption columns will be demonstrated. You will also explore interesting experiments about the adsorption of dyes on activated charcoal and drug release from hydrogel beads.
